Her condo was licensed as an Airbnb rental without her consent. Why this landlord and others are now suing the City of Toronto – Toronto Star

The City of Toronto is facing a series of lawsuits from landlords who claim their tenants should never have been allowed to list their properties on Airbnb without permission.

Each lawsuit alleges the tenants’ attempt to profit from turning the condos into short-term rentals violated their lease agreements, and the city was negligent in granting the tenants short-term rental licences. In two of the cases, the Airbnb listings also allegedly breached condo board rules. One of the suits seeks $1.6 million in damages.
