St. Joseph City Commissioners have taken the final step for allowing short term rental units downtown.

According to our reporting partners at WSJM Radio, the commissioners held a second reading Monday on a zoning ordinance that would add as many as 55 units to the city.

The second floor spaces will be used for vacation rentals for less than 30 days.

The new rules involving the units will go into effect in just over a week.
